Paracord/BioThane® collars & leashes

Are your collars handmade?

Yes. Our paracord collars are carefully handmade and woven to ensure strength, durability, and a premium finish. Each piece is crafted with attention to detail for long-lasting quality and reliability.

What is paracord?

Paracord 550 consists of a nylon sleeve (outer) and inner core of 7 nylon strands. It's mildew resistant, will not rot and is lightweight.

How strong is paracord?

It has a breaking strain of approximately 250kg.

What does the 250kg breaking strain mean?

The breaking strain refers to the maximum load the paracord material can withstand under test conditions. Overall strength in real-world use can vary depending on the collar's size, weave/assembly, hardware, fit, and how force is applied. Always choose the correct size and use your gear as intended.

How do I choose the right size in paracord?

Measure your dog's neck where the collar will sit and refer to the size guide. Paracord collars are woven and do not stretch, so accurate measuring matters. If your dog is between sizes or still growing, sizing up is usually recommended.

Are paracord collars comfortable for everyday wear?

Yes. When sized correctly, paracord is lightweight and comfortable. Wider collars can help distribute pressure and are often preferred for larger dogs. As with any collar, check fit regularly and remove the collar if you notice rubbing or irritation.

Are your collars suitable for beach and water use?

Yes. Our collars and leashes are designed for outdoor and coastal lifestyles, making them suitable for beach walks, swimming, and everyday adventures. We recommend rinsing with fresh water after ocean use and allowing the item to air dry to maintain appearance and longevity.

Do paracord collars smell when wet?

No. With normal use, paracord does not develop odours.

Rinsing after saltwater or muddy use and allowing the collar to dry naturally will keep it fresh.

What are the melted paracord parts on the back of the collar?

In order to seal the ends, they need to be melted. There are no sharp or uncomfortable edges for your dog.

What is BioThane®?

BioThane® Beta is a PVC-coated polyester webbing that has the look and feel of leather. It's soft, flexible and provides high strength while the PVC provides waterproof protection. It's UV resistant, does not tear or crack easily and does not smell when wet.

Is BioThane® strong?

Yes. BioThane® has a break strength of approximately 450kg.

Are the materials strong and durable?

Yes. We use high-quality paracord, BioThane®, and stainless steel hardware for strength, durability, and reliability in everyday use.

Will the colours fade in the sun?

Our materials are suitable for outdoor use and have good UV resistance.

Like all outdoor gear, extended sun exposure over long periods may cause slight fading over time.

How do I clean my collar or leash?

Rinse with fresh water and allow to air dry.

Can my dog wear a paracord collar all the time?

For safety, we recommend removing collars during unsupervised crate time, rough play, or when there's a risk of the collar catching. Check the fit regularly and keep the collar clean and dry to help prevent rubbing.

Are these suitable for strong or active dogs?

Yes. Our collars and leashes are designed for durability and everyday use with active dogs.

Do you use stainless steel hardware?

Yes. We use stainless steel hardware to provide corrosion resistance, strength, and durability, especially for coastal and outdoor environments.

Is the hardware heavy?

Our hardware is chosen to balance strength and comfort. Smaller sizes use smaller hardware to keep weight down, while larger sizes may use heavier-duty hardware for added strength. If you're unsure what's best for your dog, feel free to reach out and we can recommend the most suitable option.

Nylon/Neoprene collars & leashes

Do you use stainless steel hardware?

We use a combination of aviation aluminium and stainless steel hardware. Aviation aluminium is lightweight, strong, and highly corrosion resistant, making it suitable for coastal and wet conditions. Stainless steel is used in key components for added strength and durability.

Are the nylon/neoprene collars and leashes waterproof?

They are water-friendly and designed for everyday outdoor use. Neoprene does not absorb much water and dries relatively quickly, but like most fabric-based gear, they are not 100% waterproof.

How should the collar fit my dog?

A comfortable fit is snug but not tight—aim for being able to slide two fingers between the collar and your dog's neck. If you're between sizes or your dog is still growing, sizing up is usually the safer option.

How do I clean nylon/neoprene collars and leashes?

Hand wash in cool to lukewarm water with mild detergent, then rinse thoroughly and air dry out of direct sunlight. Avoid bleach, harsh chemicals, and dryers, as they can damage the neoprene and stitching.

Will neoprene smell when it gets wet?

Neoprene is designed for wet use, but any gear can develop odour if it stays damp. Rinse after saltwater or muddy walks and allow it to dry fully between uses to keep it fresh.

Is neoprene comfortable for everyday wear?

Yes. Neoprene is soft and cushioned, which helps reduce rubbing for many dogs. As with any collar, check fit regularly and remove if you notice irritation, hair breakage, or any signs of discomfort

Are these suitable for beach use?

Yes. They're designed for outdoor adventures, including beach walks. We recommend rinsing with fresh water after ocean use to remove salt and sand, then air drying to help extend the life of the material and hardware.

Are the nylon/neoprene sets suitable for strong dogs?

They're made for everyday use and active dogs. For heavy pullers, we recommend pairing the leash with appropriate training and ensuring your dog is in the correct size collar/harness for their weight and strength.

Will the colours fade over time?

Our gear is suitable for outdoor use. Like all fabric gear, extended exposure to sun, salt, and frequent washing may cause gradual fading over time.

Do the collars and leashes come as a matching set?
